Principal Message
A school is to take care of the shaping a young mind during the formative years till it becomes mature enough to be treated as fully grown-up. The UNICEF has identified the children-rights and most of the countries of the world have reached a consensus that these are worth securing. These rights include the right to education, the right to develop and the right to health which are very important for all school-goers. Our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru once said that children are like flowers in a garden to be nurtured with care and affection. Chacha Nehru mentioned affection in the same breath with care because even some inanimate objects like a glass needs to be handled with care; but love counts most when it is a question of nurturing young minds. East West Model School tries to keep this maxim in focus because the school wants to cater to students’ expectations with utmost accountability. Much wise ink has been used to settle what should constitute the stuff of school education. Boards and Councils have drafted the syllabi and recommended learning hours. But one aspect that has received under-attention is how to deliver most successfully what is to be delivered in the classes. In so far as primary/ secondary education is concerned, the emphasis should be on what is worth imitating, for by nature children are great imitators. East West Model School, one of the oldest English medium schools of Bardhaman town, is committed to the noble task of nursing and nurturing young minds following this principle so as to enable learners to express and hone their potentials to the fullest extent. The school also recognizes the value of learning from the parents and guardians so that it can render better service for the holistic development of its pupils.
